My name is Sage, the founder and owner of RimRock. My friends and family joke that I am a self-taught jack of all trades, with woodworking becoming the most recent addition.

About Us

RimRock initially started as a hobby to help blow off steam from my main job as a paramedic, but has transformed into a full-time passion. My others include fly fishing, camping, and of course the 4Runner and all the places it has taken me and my family. I live in Fort Collins with my wife and two rescue dogs. All of the artwork you see on any drawer faces are hand-painted by my amazing wife.

The Origin Story

A black SUV with a roof cargo box parked on a rocky terrain with a mountainous background. A man in a green jacket stands near the rear of the vehicle under a cloudy sky.

The original inspiration for RimRock came from my father-in-law. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love for off-roading, camping, and being self-sufficient. This obviously included doing all of his own work on his Land Cruiser, wether it was mechanical or making it the ultimate overland vehicle for his family of four - plus two dogs. He fully customized two Land Cruisers from stock - winches, sliders, differentials, ham radio, front and rear bumpers, and of course, a storage system. His time outdoors and with his family was tragically cut short recently after his short but fearless battle with cancer. I strive to live up to his level of craftsmanship and care in every system I make.

Like many of us, I use our adventure vehicle as my daily driver. Having to move camping gear, fishing gear, or work gear around every weekend quickly became less than ideal. Our gear was constantly cluttered, packing felt chaotic, and sometimes important items were even forgotten at home. So out of a desperate need to organize and not incessantly moving gear back and forth, I designed my very first system, The Classic.

A woman in a red hoodie is painting a landscape mural on a large wooden panel in a workshop. She is seated, holding a paintbrush, with a palette of colors nearby. The mural depicts mountains and a sunset sky. The workshop has exposed wooden walls, various art supplies on a table, and an unfinished black canvas on top of the mural.
